In winter, not only our wardrobe changes, but also the condition of our skin - it's time to revise our daily care and acquire new useful beauty habits. In the cold season, the skin requires special attention: due to low temperatures, wind and dry air, it begins to peel off, reddens and loses its healthy appearance. The most difficult thing is for owners of a sensitive type - such skin reacts more sharply. And yet, there are proven ways to avoid such problems. Let's talk about the most effective ones.
Rule # 1: Drink More Water
Dehydration is one of the most annoying problems during the cold season. Therefore, quenching your thirst in winter is no less important than in summer. To keep your skin smooth and fresh, try drinking plenty of pure, still water. You can add a slice of lemon or lime to it. Decaffeinated green or herbal teas can be a good source of moisture and skin-friendly antioxidants. But pay attention to the temperature of the drink: the higher it is, the more irritated the skin will be. Tea should be drunk warm, not scalding. The same goes for washing your hands and taking a bath. Even if you are cold, try not to turn on too hot water. And after water procedures, gently blot your body with a soft towel. A humidifier and regular ventilation can help reduce the drying effect of heating.
Rule # 2: choose a "winter" cream
In winter, the skin needs additional nutrition. Special moisturizers help to cope with discomfort. If in the summer light water-based creams and emulsions are popular, then in the cold it is better to choose skin care cosmetics with a dense, oily, enveloping texture. It may contain hyaluronic and linoleic acid, panthenol, glycerin, sorbitol, beeswax, vitamins A, C, E and D. But it is better to postpone products containing alcohol, phthalates, parabens and synthetic oils until warming. In addition, a daily care cream should have UV protection with an SPF of at least 25. Use it half an hour before going outside. This will allow the cream to absorb, act and protect the skin. When outdoors, be sure to protect your face and neck with a soft tissue scarf.

Rule # 3: wash your face properly
In cold weather, dermatologists advise to abandon cleansing gels and foams - they disrupt the water balance of the skin. Use gentle “cleansers” that do not dry out the skin or damage the hydrolipid mantle. It can be a calming milk and toner specially formulated for dry and sensitive skin. Also, remember to apply a moisturizing mask two to three times a week and scrub off dead skin cells. The stratum corneum not only clogs the pores, but also prevents the absorption of moisturizers. Absolute winter must have - various fortified serums. They help the creams penetrate deep into the skin and enhance their work. If you cannot find the right product yourself, contact a specialist.
Rule # 4: Review Your Diet
It is possible to maintain a healthy appearance of the skin in winter not only with care products, but also with the help of special nutrition. To do this, add foods rich in omega-3 fatty acids to your usual menu. They strengthen the protection of the epidermis from external damage, prevent collagen destruction, fight inflammation and normalize the sebaceous glands. Try eating more red fish, seafood, flax seeds, nuts, tofu, avocado, spinach, broccoli. It is also helpful to include beans, carrots, tomatoes, cranberries, raspberries and black currants in the diet. They contain natural antioxidants that trigger regeneration processes and prevent premature skin aging. But fatty foods and foods high in sugar in winter are best limited.

Rule # 5: forget about matting
One of the main winter recommendations for owners of sensitive skin is to refuse cosmetics with a matting effect. It not only emphasizes fine wrinkles and peeling, but also dries out delicate skin. Opt for products with moisturizing textures. Cosmetologists also advise adding a couple of drops of cosmetic oil to the foundation. Almond or jojoba will do. It will make the texture of the cream denser and the skin of the face hydrated and radiant. For the same reason, you should not do makeup using dry cosmetics if the temperature outside is freezing. In cold weather, oily blush, liquid eyeliner, classic lipstick and creamy eye shadow will be indispensable. Before going out, it is enough to powder your face with a thin layer of light loose powder.
Rule # 6: start exercising
Moderate physical activity has a positive effect on the condition of the skin, which is especially important in winter. They increase blood circulation, increase vascular tone and saturate cells with oxygen, thereby improving the color, texture and elasticity of the epidermis. In addition, sports effectively combat stress, which can exacerbate acne and other skin problems. When we are in a stressful situation, the body begins to produce adrenaline and cortisol. These substances increase inflammation, make blood vessels more fragile, slow down tissue regeneration, and also interfere with the synthesis of collagen and hyaluronic acid. When you come to the gym, do not forget to cleanse your face of cosmetics. In between exercises, it is helpful to refresh sensitive skin with a thermal water spray.
