Let's start with the fact that no one makes veneers on beautiful and even young teeth - as a rule, a smile that is already far from perfect needs them. “By the time a person feels the need to put veneers, he is, as a rule, not very young: over the years of active life, the teeth have worn out, and their common edge has become smaller. Therefore, in many cases, the upper teeth do not need to be dissected at all, but only smoothed, - comments Stanislav Vafin, PhD, orthopedic dentist and chief physician of the Swiss Smile clinic. “So, in essence, we are restoring what a person has erased during his life himself.”
If teeth still need to be grinded, the new ultra-thin veneers make it possible to do this to a minimum: if earlier it was necessary to prepare the enamel by 1-1.2 mm, now this figure has decreased to 0.3-0.5 mm. “The tooth should have enamel - it is to this that we glue the veneer,” explains Vafin. - If you grind a tooth too much, you have to glue the veneer directly onto the dentine. Therefore, the "lining" of the previous generation could fly off at the most inopportune moment. Now, if everything is done with high quality and a person does not have any bad habits (like grinding teeth, addiction to seeds and gnawing at fishing line), veneers last 10-12 years without ever peeling off. In addition, the less we prepare a tooth, the longer it will last. Enamel is the hardest tissue in the body - it is almost like a diamond and cannot be replaced by anything. That's why having access to ceramics, which can be made very thin, we immediately abandoned all the more invasive analogues. In a professional environment, placing thick veneers is now considered bad manners."

Another option for ultra-thin linings is laminators, a registered trademark of an American laboratory. “Ten years ago, they were pioneers in the field of minimally invasive techniques. But these veneers are not made entirely of ceramics: this is a special patented material. Unfortunately, on the way out, they turn out to be very dull white, which is not suitable for a discerning Russian client,”says Stanislav.
According to the doctor, a high-quality "smile" is always made of ceramics: it is this material that allows you to vary the shade and transparency. If you look closely, the body of the tooth is always the same color, the root of the other, and the surface of the tooth closer to the cutting edge of the third. In addition, there is the possibility of adding scallop - a grooved edge that natural teeth have.
In the Swiss Smile clinic, ceramic onlays are ordered both in Moscow and in Germany (but if you want a Hollywood smile in the literal sense of the word, it will be brought from the USA). But German veneers are preferable for several reasons at once. “Firstly, it's a whole school. Car enthusiasts chase BMWs assembled in Germany. Cars made in Kaliningrad are less valuable, although in essence everything is the same - and here is the same story. In addition, not all world brands are represented in Russia: we have certified 15 of the 30 most popular brands. Because of this, unfortunately, our techniques are severely limited,”Stanislav complains.
Meanwhile, Russian veneers also have their advantages: they will come out one and a half to two times cheaper than overseas counterparts, and the quality of the laboratories with which Vafin works, according to him, is excellent. In addition, boiling white onlays on teeth are much easier to order in Moscow: they are practically not made in Europe - everything is as natural as possible in fashion there.

If you are afraid of pain during the installation of veneers, you can safely forget about them - you will not feel anything. “Naturally, everything is done under anesthesia - it's like getting a filling. Only longer,”the dentist soothes. Indeed, if you need to make the whole mouth, it can take 4-5 hours. But for such cases, the clinic has video glasses and a rather impressive movie library, so it won't be boring. “Nothing can be done in half an hour,” explains Stanislav Vafin. “Quality work, like a nice car or a watch, requires perseverance, attention, adherence to all protocols. Only then all technologies work and the result is kept for the stated time."
It's the same with the cost - by putting ceramic veneers at an attractive price, you're doing yourself a disservice. “This is an expensive pleasure, the price below 50 thousand apiece will already be a compromise,” Vafin insists. - The ceramic powder itself does not guarantee that the person who applies it will do it very professionally. By purchasing a veneer for a unit cost, you are buying, among other things, the skill of a doctor and dental technician. Good specialists have to study a lot and constantly undergo training, and this also costs a lot of money."

But how beautiful and, importantly, naturally you will smile, is decided not only by the quality of the veneers, but also by how skillfully your measurements were taken.
“Previously, a face bow was used to register the bite: it was placed over the nose and ears, and then sealed with silicone. But people have ears at different levels, in addition, there are injuries … In a word, people are asymmetric. If you take an impression, cast the model and plaster it parallel to the floor (and the upper jaw of each person in space is located individually), when we put the veneers in the mouth, there is a chance that it will turn out crooked: you can make at least 15 fittings, but the result will still not be like. Therefore, in advanced clinics, special stands with mirrors are now used, where the patient is aligned with the position of the pupils - it is at this moment that the correct position of the jaw is fixed,”says Stanislav.
This technique allows you to create a perfect smile for the mouth with a variety of features and even the wrong position of the bite, which you, perhaps not without reason, consider your highlight.>
