In 2020, time changed its course: we lost our usual landmarks and points of reference, and the seasonal calendar turned into an endless cycle of days, similar to each other, like twins. May in the coming year as many beautiful and varied moments as possible await us. Start measuring them with your new watch.

Black tie dress code

Modern black watches on a black strap are not pure classics. The calm character of the costume models gave way to a sporty, dynamic character. It is further emphasized by the yellow gold of the case, as on the Hublot Classic Fusion, created in honor of the 40th anniversary of the watch brand. Not just black lacquer dials are in fashion, but with a smoky effect, as well as onyx (Girard-Perregaux) or black jade (Jaquet Droz).

The color of the tree

Green is refreshing and hopeful. Therefore, in this difficult year, several brands have tried this shade in a variety of options - from grassy to protective, from pale to emerald. And some - and more than once.

Bordeaux and burgundy

The rich selection of red wine on the table can be supported by the wine tones on the dials. The watchmakers offer a good assortment of noble models.

Precious

A watch studded with diamonds or colored stones is a sure sign of celebration. It is not necessary to read the time from them (especially since it often hides under the cover), it is more important to just admire and catch admiring glances.

Symbolic

Traditionally, from year to year, several watch manufactories, which feel a particularly close connection with China, release a special zodiac series, interpreting one or another symbol of the year in their own artistic way. The upcoming 2021 (according to the Chinese calendar, it will start on February 12) will be the year of the bull - it is this strong and formidable horned animal that adorns highly artistic dials. Metiers d'Art The Legend of the Chinese Zodiac - Year of the Ox is the work of Vacheron Constantin engravers and enamellers. As always, there are two versions: platinum in blue and rose gold in brown, each in the amount of 12 pieces.

A series of four watches is presented by the Jaquet Droz manufactory, and the craftsmen have chosen a special type of bull - the buffalo. On two models, the animal was made using the technique of miniature paintings on an enamel dial, and on two more - using relief engraving, which depicts not only a bull figurine with a detailed cut through textured skin and horns, but also a plum tree with ruby flowers. Each version of the Petite Heure Minute Buffalo is released in eight copies.

Since 2013, Chopard's zodiac watches have been made using urushi lacquer in combination with the oriental maki-e technique (painting with gold powder). The limited edition LUC XP Urushi Year of the Ox was no exception. All 88 pieces were made by the painter Minori Koizumi. The in-house caliber LUC 96.17-L is installed inside a gold case with a diameter of 39.5 mm.

One of the best enamellers Anita Porsche took part in the work on the Piaget zodiac watch. On the Piaget Altiplano Chinese New Year dial, she depicted a bull using cloisonné enamel technique. The picture turned out to be incredibly dynamic.

But the most New Year's in spirit and mood was made by the Russian watchmaker Konstantin Chaikin. His recognizable base model "Joker" - with time-indicator eyes and tongue instead of moon phases - has been transformed into Santa. Glasses and a white beard appeared on the face-dial, and the leather strap turned into a red cap and a sheepskin coat with white trim. The case back of the Santa 2021 Special Edition is engraved with a Christmas theme. "Santa" from Konstantin Chaikin exists in only three copies.
