The Sanlorenzo SD series of semi-displacement yachts, launched in 2007, includes vessels ranging in length from 28 to 38 meters. They enable transatlantic voyages to enjoy both speed and calm. The exterior designers had an important task - given such long trips, to create a spacious boat with seaworthy capabilities. The Zuccon International Project, which was inspired by the yachts of the 30s, was invited to develop a common design project for the series.
The SD96 has excellent driving characteristics due to its sharp hull profile with a vertical stem. She has three decks (like everything in this series), but it is as easy to operate as the double deck. The boat operates without problems in a wide range of speeds: from economical 10 knots and 15 for cruising to a maximum of 20 knots.
The interior of the new Sanlorenzo boat was designed by Patricia Urquiola, who is famous for her work with leading furniture manufacturers such as B&B Italia, Moroso and Driade. She is also actively involved in the design of hotels and boutiques, and also took part in the design of the new "houseboat" - the fashionable liner Celebrity Edge.
Urquiola dares to experiment with technology and has a passion for ethnicity. Her view of the objective world, in which functionality is combined with romance, is immediately recognizable, it is inspired by the culture of Africa, Indonesia, Central Asia and Milan, where the designer has lived for many years.

“I chose Patricia because we wanted to bring more femininity to the interiors of Sanlorenzo yachts, which until now was alien to the world of yachting,” says Massimo Perotti, President of Sanlorenzo. “Today, she is the most sought-after woman designer at the global level, thanks in large part to her talent for combining beauty and comfort. All her projects are characterized by a drop of irony, poetic sensitivity and great respect for the hard work of the masters."
While working on SD96, Patricia Urquiola decided to build on the general idea of flexibility and tried to make the boat functional. “The starting point for our collaboration with Sanlorenzo was undoubtedly the sea - a great source of inspiration for the development of the entire concept and therefore the interior of the yacht,” says the designer. - Materials, shapes and colors are reminiscent of marine life. The result is an elegant space full of natural colors and shades."
The lines of the interior are smooth, all its elements seem to flow into one another. The main deck features a spacious master stateroom with wide windows and a glass panel with a nautical theme. This space is noticeably wider than on yachts of similar size. Next door is a travertine and glass bathroom. The main deck also houses the main saloon with parquet flooring and oak paneling. The interior can be adapted to some extent to the needs and desires of the ship owners: the dining table for 10 people folds into the seats if desired.

A central staircase, made of bronze steel and decorated with wood inlays, connects the main deck with the upper and lower. The screen and metal mesh divide the space into zones without overloading it.
On the upper deck there is a seating area with opening windows. Comfortable furniture is installed here, with the help of which this place can be used as a living room, dining room or cinema. The aft deck can serve as a living or outdoor dining area with a table that converts from coffee to dining.
The lower deck can be easily converted into another full living room with an en-suite bathroom thanks to the sliding panels. There are also two guest cabins here.>
