On July 9, subscribers to the official Berluti YouTube channel could see what Berluti creative director Chris van Assch is working on in the Paris studio and what Brian Rochefort is doing in his Los Angeles studio.
The Berluti collaboration was born out of Chris van Assch's long-standing love for ceramics. The designer appreciates the American sculptor, who became famous for his abstract works and clay bowls with textured drops. Brian Rochefort holds a BA from Rhode Island School of Design and has participated in exhibitions at Retrospective Galleries in the Hudson, The Cabin in Los Angeles and Sorry We're Closed in Brussels.
“You can call me something of a ceramic botanist,” Chris van Assch comments on the collaboration. - I have long admired the work of Brian Rochefort, and I was fortunate enough to acquire one of his works. I was extremely excited about the idea of interpreting his vision through the lens of Berluti."

The sculptor's works are striking at first sight. Rochefort draws inspiration from the images of lava that explodes into ceramic shells and solidifies in intricate shapes. These patterns have been digitally recreated on Berluti's handmade silk shirts, sweaters, outerwear and shoes. The capsule collection also includes loose elasticated trousers and leather accessories, including branded bags and glasses.
