Dries Van Noten X Christian Lacroix
Part of the collection already on sale
The return of Christian Lacroix to big fashion ten years after the bankruptcy of the company of the same name was one of the most high-profile events of the past year. The designer took part in the development of the spring-summer collection of Dries van Noten, who dreamed of creating something as "optimistic, vibrant, inclusive and charmingly extravagant" as Christian Lacroix's couture of the 80s and 90s. The collaboration includes draped skirts, feather hats and short dresses with capes, which have already appeared on the red carpet several times (for example, Margot Robbie, Laura Dern and Florence Pugh), as well as more casual clothes - leather raincoats, embroidered jumpers and elongated shirts. Considering that Lacroix helped create the collection, but never announced the resumption of his own brand, things with name tags may be the last ones, and therefore priceless.
Uniqlo X JW Anderson
Collaborations of the Japanese brand Uniqlo become the most anticipated and discussed annually. They help to look differently at the iconic items of the brand - be it ultra-light down jackets or turtlenecks with a warming function, to show new production technologies - for example, the use of laser or eco-stones, as well as to rethink the basic wardrobe with the help of prints by artists, animators or designers. So, Jonathan Anderson, who has been releasing joint collections with Uniqlo since 2017, in the new season again turns to British classics, but focuses on the traditional gingham cage. It is placed on blouses, T-shirts, dresses, backpacks and bags, which are also intended for children for the first time.
Dior X Nike
Going on sale in April
Dior men's creative director Kim Jones presented not one, but several collaborations at the end of last year. These are futuristic suitcases and their miniature copies, released together with the German brand Rimowa, sweatshirts with the effect of cracked concrete and sneakers with newspaper prints, designed by sculptor Daniel Arsham, as well as shirts, sweatshirts and panamas with the author's graphics by the founder of the Stüssy brand Sean Stussi. But the most talked about new addition to the sneakerhead's shopping list is the Air Jordan 1 sneaker with the signature Dior Oblique monogram - the result of Nike's first collaboration with the luxury segment. As it became known, along with the shoes, a full-fledged ready-to-wear collection of two brands, consisting of hoodies, shorts, socks, silk scarves and classic suits, will be on sale. All of them refer to the style of Michael Jordan and are executed in dark blue, white and gray colors.
H&M X Sabyasachi Available
The Swedish mass market H&M makes joint projects not only with world-famous luxury brands - be it Balmain, Erdem, Moschino or Giambattista Valli (a collaboration partner is traditionally announced in May, and she herself comes out in November), but also with local designers - a Colombian Johanna Ortiz, Chinese Angel Chen or African Palesa Mokubung. This year, the brand designed a collection featuring Sabyasachi Mukherjee, Bollywood costume designer and outfit designer for Priyanka Chopra, Deepika Padukone and Anushka Sharma. It includes women's and men's clothing for sports and leisure, which has become a synthesis of Scandinavian minimalism and oriental maximalism. The latter is the responsibility of traditional Indian fabrics and embroideries, which are collected and manually recreated by the masters of the Sabyasachi Mukherjee Art Foundation.
Valentino X Onitsuka Tiger
Available in Summer
Last summer, Japan's oldest footwear company Onitsuka Tiger unveiled its collaboration with Givenchy, the iconic Mexico 66 SD sneaker, reimagined with black and white leather, red details, dual branding and perforation. This year, the same Onitsuka Tiger model was given for customization to the creative director of Valentino Pierpaolo Piccioli, who made it in acid orange, green, pink, white and blue-red colors, and also added the recognizable logo of the French brand. Despite the fact that the Mexico 66 SD sneakers made their debut in 1966 on the eve of the Olympic Games in Mexico City, Piccioli suggested wearing them not with sportswear, but with classic clothes - deconstructed pea coats, black jackets and trousers with arrows.
Maison Margiela X Reebok
Available in Fall
In the 25 years since the release of the Reebok Instapump Fury sneakers, designers from Chanel, Vetements, Awake, Bait and adidas Originals have worked on them. However, none of them tried to put the model on heels, as John Galliano did in the spring-summer Maison Margiela couture collection. The designer crossed the “insta-pumps” with no less revolutionary shoes - tabi boots, which his predecessor Martin Margiela introduced back in 1989. The result was not even sneakers, but ankle boots for the fall - in black, white and spirit-lifting red and yellow colors.
Telfar X Gap
Goes on sale in September
According to Pitti Immagine Communications Director Lapo Chianchi, the founder of the young New York brand Telfar Clemens is "one of the most interesting designers of our time." We saw proof of this at the Telfar show, which was recently held in Florence and was built in the format of an evening meal. At the table sat the stylist Lotta Volkova, fashion critic Susie Menkes and Rick Owens' wife Michelle Lamy, and on the table is a platter with a mixture of agenderism, American culture and simplex cut. This year, it will be available to inexperienced fashion buyers both ideologically and in terms of price: Telfar announced a partnership with the American retailer Gap, the result of which will be remixed basic clothing. “I was impressed with how the Gap designs and optimizes collections,” said the designer. - It seemed to me,it's like we [Telfar] are stuck in the luxury segment, when what really inspires us is simple things."
