Creating objects of desire is one of the main skills of Cartier designers. Such at one time were jewelry in the form of a nail and a Love bracelet with screws and a screwdriver, the legendary Santos square watch and the Trinity ring, invented together with Jean Cocteau. No less recognizable and coveted symbol of Cartier for more than a hundred years is a red box with a gold frieze and the coveted logo. These boxes in several shades appeared soon after the opening of the flagship store in Rue de la Paix in Paris. From dark green, olive, black and red, it was the latter that became the dominant one and by the 1920s and 1930s replaced the rest of the colors. The case in the form of an octagon was decorated along the edge with a delicate gold pattern, the so-called garland.
This is exactly what the new Guirlande de Cartier bag in calfskin looks like today. The rigid accessory is produced in three sizes (mini, small, medium) and repeats the palette of the first Cartier boxes.

Along the perimeter, the stylized octagon of the bag and a small flap are trimmed with the same golden garland, and in the inner secret pocket there is a mirror with the names of important cities for Cartier: Paris, London and New York.>
