The history of the Swiss watch manufacture TAG Heuer (from 1860 to 1985 it was called Heuer) is inextricably linked with sports. Invented in 1916, the Micrograph, which was able to keep track of the time to the nearest hundredth of a second, established the company as the official timekeeper of the Olympic Games, starting with the 1920 Olympics in Antwerp.
The sporting events of the 1950s and 1960s required other innovative solutions. In 1963, Jack Heuer, the great-grandson of the founder of the watch brand (and now the honorary president of the company), invented a new chronograph for race car drivers Carrera - the watch got its name from the famous and most dangerous Carrera Panamericana race held in Mexico. The model was equipped with a high-precision movement, and was distinguished by a dynamic case design, avant-garde for its time, and a well-readable dial. For more than half a century, this timepiece has demonstrated excellent sporting performance and high precision chronograph measurements, confirming TAG Heuer's ability to combine fine watchmaking with avant-garde technology.

The latest generation of the TAG Heuer Carrera is powered by the Heuer 02 caliber, entirely designed and manufactured in the Chevin Manufacture. The automatic chronograph movement Heuer 02, launched in 2017, became the heir to the first serial in-house caliber Heuer 01. And the heir was improved: the thickness of the movement of 168 parts was reduced from 7.3 mm to 6.95 mm, which made the case thinner and more comfortable. and the power reserve increased from 50 to 80 hours. The design base (column wheel and vertical clutch), as well as the balance frequency of 4 Hz (28,800 vibrations per hour), remained the same.
In addition to the time display and chronograph function, the Heuer 02 caliber also provides a quick date and second stop. The Heuer 02 movement features a three-counter structure that was also used in the original Heuer Carrera models from the 1960s. The distance between the meters has increased compared to the Heuer 01, making them larger and easier to read.

The movement is housed in a robust 45 mm steel case with a polished black ceramic bezel with a tachymeter scale.
