Unlike many of his compatriots, even from privileged families, Kim Jong-un was educated not only in Pyongyang, but also at the Swiss school Liebefeld-Steinhölzli near Bern, where he definitely saw an example of what it means to dress well. With reservations, we can admit that his consistently unchanging style really coincides with the images that designers offer.
Oversize lover
Clothes that are one size larger are either a trend or a timeless classic. Kim Jong-un's addiction to loose-fitting clothing is a long history. So he arrived in Vladivostok in an oversized long double-breasted coat and wide trousers. Obviously, the reason for this choice is not trends, but the specifics of the figure, for which it is not so easy to choose a well-cut suit. Wide-leg trousers in the 30s and 40s are indeed making a comeback, though they offer a high waist. And if the North Korean leader has more than enough wide trousers, it would not hurt to work on the waist. Quite unexpectedly, the leader of the DPRK added a hat to his image, which, however, he held in his hand most of the time.

Glasses
It seems that Kim Jong-un's optics design has not changed since 2011 (that's when he came to power). The rectangular frame under the tortoiseshell has been its faithful companion over the past years.

Striped flight
In 2017, South Korean President Moon Jae-in was included in the trendsetter lists for his love of colorful tie patterns (this wardrobe item featuring a striped seal became one of the best sellers in local online stores). Kim Jong-un does not recognize bright prints and patterns, but often appears in things with vertical stripes. Well, that fits well with the pajama-style aesthetic, given that the politician is so fond of shimmery fabrics.

Military
Like all authoritarian leaders, Kim Jong-un gravitates towards military-style wardrobe items: service jackets and jackets, buttoned up, are only occasionally replaced by dull black coats.

Accessories
Unusual cufflinks, colorful socks or expensive watches are definitely not part of the fashionable universe of the leader of North Korea. Even a tie is a rarity (although earlier it sometimes appeared in red, pioneer). The maximum that a politician allows himself is a badge with the image of his grandfather and father.

Hairstyle
Kim Jong-un's main fashion feature is his hairstyle. The famously shaved whiskey and the back of the head, complete with a haircut under the pot, from time to time generously poured with gel, is associated with the DPRK leader as strongly as funny socks with Justin Trudeau and self-tanning with Donald Trump.
