Quotes of the Day -

Christopher Geyner and Georges Kern © sihh Press Office
Christopher Granger (CEO of IWC since April 1, 2017):
“I am in a very privileged position: I have worked at IWC with Georges for the past ten years and there would be no way to get to know the brand better. Therefore, I am quite comfortable with the transition to a new quality. I inherit a great team, a great product and a great brand. The entire industry is currently going through a difficult period, but we will continue to follow our strategy."
Georges Kern (CEO of IWC until April 1, 2017, after that - the head of the entire watch department at Richemont):
“I would like to say that now I will go to lie on the beach. But now I will be responsible for all watch brands of the group, including IWC … In particular, for how successfully they will work. Everyone is driven by a CEO, my task is to be their navigator, to set the right direction of movement. And trust me, I won't point them from the back seat. There are no simple industries, no simple time, no simple work. Everywhere its difficulties, in our business - their own. It is important to be able to properly respond to the situation. And never lose your compass. You need to know which way you are going, where your brand is going. Why do I personally need this difficult job? Because it's funny!"

Rendez-vous, Jaeger-LeCoultre
The Rendez-vous line of women's watches appeared five years ago. Models in a perfectly round case with twelve indexes in the form of large Arabic numerals in a retro style proved to be extremely popular. “Round automatic watches, both classic and modern, inspired by the Art Deco style, were essential for women. In addition, Rendez-Vous actually became the first model of Jaeger-LeCoultre intended for them,”recalls the art director and chief designer of the watch brand Janek Deleskiewicz. The original "repeater" Rendez-Vous Sonatina Large - one of the new models of this year - not only shows the hour of the date with the help of an asterisk indicator that moves along the outer contour of the dial, but also sounds it: at a given time, a melodic hammer blow is heard.
And Rendez-Vous Celestial is a star map on a woman's wrist. The lapis lazuli disc is hand-engraved with the constellations of the northern hemisphere, and the bezel and side surface of the case are for the first time decorated with sapphires of blue, pink and purple shades that form a palette of degradation.
Event of the day -
Official opening of the Roger Dubuis stand
By tradition, the first event of the watch salon is the inauguration of the Roger Dubuis stand, which is held at exactly nine in the morning. This time the creative concept of the most extravagant brand of the Richemont group sounds like "Dare to be Rare". The new Excalibur models are strikingly expressive - as is the Roger Dubuis exhibition space itself, cut by a bright red crater crack. The raging forces of nature and, in particular, the seething magma are preparing another tectonic shift in the aesthetics and mechanics of this brand.

The actor appeared in public wearing a model from the anniversary limited edition with a blue dial. After a photo shoot with the brand's CEO, Philippe-Leopold Metzger, Reynolds took a close look at how watchmakers work to create ultra-thin calibers.
