The highlights at the Geneva Motor Show unfolds in the first two days for the press and customers. At this time, representatives of brands remove the covers from new cars and treat them to champagne at their stands in honor of this, and journalists spread news around the world that Cadillac or Volvoshowed the world another crown of creation. The first presentations start at eight in the morning, and then follow one after one at fifteen-minute intervals. And sometimes you don't even need to check the schedule - significant premieres, which attract a lot of viewers and are accompanied by very loud music, are hard to miss. And when the bulk of the audience goes to another presentation, you can calmly examine the car, take a couple of selfies against it, sit behind the wheel and, if you're lucky, talk to those who were responsible for creating the car. For example, at the Lamborghini stand, you can catch the chief designer of this Italian brand, Mitya Borkert, who will tell you how the Huracán Performante came about. Going further through the exhibition, have a few words with the senior vice president of corporate designRenault by Laurence van den Acker on the Renault Trezor that shook everyone six months ago at the Paris Motor Show, and at the same time take a closer look at his sneakers. Van den Acker, the Flying Dutchman who worked at Audi, Ford Motor Company and Mazda before Renault, is famous for wearing shoes in the color of its body for the presentation of each new car model.

Industry officials say auto brand exhibiting is slowly but surely being phased out with the rise of digital technology and the internet. But everyone is trying to get to Geneva: the interest of the public is huge. It is here that a maximum of concepts are presented, by which you can follow the directions of development of individual brands or the automotive industry in general. This, of course, affects the price: insiders say that the rent and equipment of the stand cost from € 500 thousand. But the need for spending on models is gradually disappearing. Since the organizers of the Shanghai Motor Show decided to abandon the services of girls in 2015, arguing that companies should attract the public primarily with quality cars, other auto shows have decided to follow their example.

Many brands prefer to rely on ambassadors: for example, on the first day, Maserati hosted a special dinner for its customers with the participation of Massimo Bottura, the chef of the Osteria Francescana restaurant (3 * Michelin and 1 place in the World's 50 Best Restaurants) and the ambassador of this brand with May 2015

Taking inspiration from the Maserati Levante SUV, named after the wind blowing from the Adriatic to the Tyrrhenian Sea, Bottura cooked citrus rice on a pillow of freshwater fish marinated with fennel and orange. And also the iconic dishes “Crunchy Lasagna Slice” and “Memory of the Mortadella Sandwich”, which are known to all fans of this renowned chef.

And for those who love expensive watches as much as cars, the TAG Heuer brand has organized a special exhibition at the motor show: along with the Porsche 911 R, Audi R8 LMS 2015 No. 28 and the Formula 1 show car "Red Bull Racing - TAG Heuer 2017" here you could explore racing simulations, and then go for models from the latest TAG Heuer collections in its pop-up boutique. There, among other things, the Monaco was presented - an updated version of the same legendary watch worn by the actor and racer Steve McQueen during the filming of the movie Le Mans in 1970. The business is not limited to chronometers and cars: following the fashion for virtual reality glasses, TAG Heuer brought a model to the exhibitionSamsung Gear VR, for which a small queue lined up on the first day.

The same gadget became a hit at the Hyundai stand. The Korean automaker brought its Ioniq self-driving concept to Geneva and promoted it with a 5D attraction, a car simulator in which guests, sitting and wearing glasses, set off on a fantastic journey through a virtual metropolis with exploding cars, destroyed bridges and dashing turns. “If you feel bad, raise your hands!” - the artificial intelligence cautiously warned, and some really got off the attraction, not waiting for the end of the virtual tour.

Having examined everything that is presented at the Geneva Motor Show, has chosen the most beautiful, fast and impressive out of a huge number of concepts, special versions and supercars.

Lamborghini Huracán Performante

The new supercar of the famous Italian brand surprised long before the Geneva Motor Show: On October 5, 2016, he set a record at the Nürburgring with the North Loop in 6 minutes 52.01 seconds - the best result for a production sports car. The car received a 640-horsepower V10 engine, which is considered the most powerful among the ten-cylinder Lambo engines. Acceleration from zero to 100 km / h takes 2.9 seconds - the regular version takes 3.2 seconds. In addition, the Performante is equipped with the ALA system of active aerodynamic components (which stands for Aerodinamica Lamborghini Attiva and at the same time translates from the Italian as "wing"): a splitter with switchable flaps that in one position provide maximum downforce for cornering, and in other reduce air drag for better acceleration. The improved version of Huracán will go on sale in the summer of 2017, and its recommended price in Russia will be 15.5 million rubles.

Techrules Ren Supercar

The Chinese company Techrules presented the production version of its modified AT96 and GT96 concepts, which it has already shown earlier. The car was named Ren, which is translated from Chinese as "benevolence" or "humanity". The creators invited the Italian designer Giorgetto Giugiaro, who worked for many years at the legendary Italdesign studio, and his son Fabrizio to refine the concept. Thanks to them, Ren has become a real machine of the future: in particular, the transparent roof of the body is raised and moved back. The driver sits in the center, passengers occupy two side seats, and an information display is installed in the center of the steering wheel. The interior is trimmed with leather, Alcantara and such completely non-automotive material as denim.

Range rover velar

This car is neither a supercar, nor a concept, nor a special version. The Velar is the production model that will sit between Range Rover Evoque and Range Rover Sport and will go on sale this fall. Our attention to Velar was drawn by one of the interior options - Premium Textile, developed in cooperation with Danish designer fabric manufacturer Kvadrat. Premium Textile combines high-quality wool with a material unique to the luxury SUV segment - made from recycled plastic and reminiscent of faux suede.

Rolls-royce ghost elegance

This special version was commissioned by a private collector and finished in a Diamond Stardust shade (ie, Diamond Stardust). To create this shade, the craftsmen used the dust of thousands of diamonds, which was added to the paint. After its application, the car was covered with an additional layer of varnish, which protects the diamond particles from mechanical stress during manual polishing.
