Deciding to embody the genius of the Carthaginian warlord in the High Artistry Homage to Hannibal Barca Limited Edition 1 pen, Montblanc craftsmen came up with an intricate clip in the shape of an elephant trunk - and reminded that Hannibal's Alps were accompanied by war elephants. The white gold body of the pen was plated with a blue pavé sapphire and the cap was crowned with a 6.03 carat round diamond with excellent gemological characteristics: D color and impeccable clarity.
This precious writing instrument was created in a single copy and costs € 1.5 million. This amount, however, is not a record.

Three years ago, the house Montblanc released a handle even more expensive: Monte Celio cost € 2.4 million. It is dedicated to one of the seven hills of Rome - Celio, on the slopes of which luxury villas were built. The case is encrusted with 1,500 diamonds and pink sapphires, the cap resembles a precious ring with a diamond weighing 11.88 carats (cutting and setting the stone took eight years).
The most expensive Cartier pen is made in the form of a tiger sculpture (the jewelry house is a great specialist in large representatives of the feline order) and costs 22.7 million rubles. Each of the five released pieces is made of yellow gold with black lacquer, 110 white and 293 yellow diamonds, onyx nose and emerald eyes. The handle rests on a rock crystal stand measuring 180 mm x 45 mm.

The STDupont record holder is designed for the Russian market. Its massive case, engraved in rose gold, is adorned with a miniature sculpture of St. Basil's Cathedral made of colored enamel and diamonds. The tool was made according to the sketches of Philippe Turner in 2016 at the Haute Creation studio. Price - 8.6 million rubles.
The Italian Montegrappa factory in Bassano del Grappa (Veneto province) has been producing writing instruments since 1912, and not only under its logo. The most expensive was the Fulgor Nocturnus pen, created by Montegrappa craftsmen for the Florentine company Tibaldi.
Clad in a pavé of 945 black diamonds and 123 rubies, this fountain pen sold for $ 8 million in 2010 at an auction in Shanghai. The most valuable piece from Montegrappa 's own collections is estimated at € 1 million. This is the La Pace pen, the design of which was developed by the brand in collaboration with the designer David Montalto. They covered the platinum case with 48 carats of diamonds, and the symbol of peace - a dove - was applied to the feather. He, sitting in a human palm, was sculpturally depicted on a Baccarat crystal case.
