The iconic Ceramica watch first saw the light of day in 1990 and became an absolute design breakthrough for its time: the fully integrated case and bracelet of minimalist design were made of high-tech ceramic - lightweight, pleasant to the touch and resistant to scratches. The new look of the watch was developed by the German industrial designer Konstantin Grcic, who worked for a long time in the design bureau of Jasper Morrison, who created the r5.5 watch collection for Rado.

Working on men's models in a rectangular case, Grcic replaced the shiny glossy ceramics with a matte one (according to the designer, it "makes the shape of the watch much stronger"), and he designed the dials, inspired by watches for pilots - attracting him with their simplicity and clear graphic elements. One of the men's models has three central hands and a recognizable aviator's triangle at the 12 o'clock position, in the other the minute scale is located along the perimeter of the rectangular dial, and the seconds are placed in a separate round window. The ladies' watches retained their high-gloss ceramics, but now four diamonds shine on the black or white square dials instead of hour markers.
