This is not the first time that the French jewelery house presents its high jewelery collections in two stages. The Magnitude collection premiered in London in June (and now one can only guess which of the nearly 100 items remained unsold). The second part, more than 200 items, will be shown in New York in November, and in July a small part of this “New York” collection was shown in a Parisian boutique.
It all starts with a stone. Cartier deliberately uses the most unexpected materials for high jewelry: amazonite, metaquartzite, imperial topaz, rutilated quartz (first used in jewelry at L'Odyssee de Cartier in 2013), sapphires of rare shades. And the idea is not at all to emphasize the splendor of the stone with a diamond halo, but to create an unprecedented color composition - bright and harmonious. Ornamental minerals play in it on equal terms with precious specimens. Colombian emeralds are immersed in rock crystal, pink diamonds coexist with morganite and corals, rubellite cabochons are surrounded by quartz interspersed with pyrite, amazonite sets off drops of rubies. All these stones have never met within the same product, and therefore are attracted to each other, as opposites, emphasizing the contrast of cuts, colors, transparency.
Morganite, coral and diamond beams radiate in the Aphelie necklace from a solar hair quartz cabochon, and onyx details create a 3D effect. By the way, aphelion is an astronomical concept that means the point of the planet's orbit farthest from the Sun. The Equinox necklace is built on a perfect balance of large lapis lazuli beads and openwork weaving of white, yellow and orange diamonds, in the middle of which rests a large yellow Ceylon sapphire weighing over 15 carats. Theia is a platinum necklace made of over 46 carats of Colombian emeralds set in carved rhinestone. The play of edges and reflections is enhanced by the inclusion of tiny triangular onyx fragments. The pendant can be worn as a brooch or worn on a long chain.

Among this polychrome splendor stands out the snow-white Dioscures set - necklaces and earrings made of platinum and colorless diamonds. A precious canvas necklace is woven of diamonds of different cuts, and at the ends there are two pear-shaped stones weighing 26.37 and 26.35 carats with the highest gemological indicators - the sparkling "Dioscuri brothers" can be attached to earrings. The set is sold only in its entirety and costs € 21 million.
The high jewelery collection was named Magnitude. In astronomy, this is a measure of the brightness of a celestial body, in geology, a measure of the intensity of movement of the earth's crust. At Cartier, it is the power of a design idea that transforms the chaos of a wide variety of stones and minerals into precious harmony. With Cartier magnitude.>
