On May 31, the Chanel Métiers d'art Paris-Hamburg 2017/18 show took place. Prior to that, the French house organized its shows in the Russian capital only twice. In 2009, Chanel, led by Karl Lagerfeld, brought the Paris-Moscou collection, and the first show took place over 50 years ago: during the Iron Curtain in 1967, as part of the first International Fashion Festival in Moscow.

The Paris-Hamburg collection was first released in December 2017 at the Hamburg Philharmonic. In Moscow, the 69th pavilion of VDNKh was chosen as the site, for one evening it turned into a noisy port with a podium pier, along which cruise and yacht enthusiasts floated. The main components of this collection are the nautical theme, tweed, without which it is impossible to imagine Chanel, knitwear and airy, transparent tulle.

Traditionally, in the collections of Métiers d'art, the main emphasis is transferred to the talent of masters working in couture techniques. Guests could appreciate the intricate embroidery of Maison Lesage and Atelier Montex, Massaro shoes, headwear by Maison Michel, and flowers and plumes by Lemarié.

The show was attended by Russian actresses Ravshana Kurkova, Irina Starshenbaum, Alla Verber, Svetlana Bondarchuk, Natasha Goldenberg, Ksenia and Polina Kutepov, ballerina Anastasia Shevtsova. In addition, the show was honored with their presence and the ambassadors of Chanel: Caroline de Maigre, actress Marina Wakt and Korean model Su Joo Park, as well as actress and director Joanna Price.

In addition to the show, the Chanel team has prepared another gift for the fashionable Moscow audience. On June 1, the day after the show, a public talk was held for students of Moscow creative universities. Bruno Pavlovsky, President of Chanel Fashion, took part in the conversation. He spoke about the creative business model of the house, about what challenges you need to be ready for when working in the fashion industry, about the peculiarities of interaction between Karl Lagerfeld and his studio, as well as about how the work is built between the Chanel workshops and the ateliers that are part of Métiers d'art.

“In a world saturated with images and information, just making a statement is no longer enough. The fashion house is an orchestra that has to be skillfully conducted, constantly fueling the creative energy and supporting the drive of the shows. The image must become a reality. He has to find a place for himself in a local context, to evoke a response from clients,”Bruno Pavlovsky emphasized during a conversation with students.>
