Bright gems on the dials are a true omen of the 60s – 70s, the time of hippies, ethnicities and acid shades. It was in those years that watchmakers and jewelers were actively working with lapis lazuli, turquoise, and tiger's eye. US First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy purchases Piaget on a flexible gold bracelet with an oval jade dial. Watches with semi-precious stones appear in the Chopard range - in memory of that era, the L'Heure du Diamant 2019 line was enriched with models with lapis lazuli, turquoise, opal, framed with large diamonds.
But of all the colored minerals this season, it is malachite that enjoys special love and appears more often than others as a background for the hour and minute hands. Its deposits are concentrated mainly in Africa, high-quality minerals are mined in Congo, but Russian deposits, primarily in the Urals, are almost completely depleted. A natural green pattern is well read on a polished malachite disc. It is supported by a strap of the same shade; mainly yellow gold is used as a material for the watch case.

Bvlgari dressed in one of the most beautiful minerals not only the dial, but also the schematic design of the snake around the Serpenti Incantati watch case. Jaquet Droz has presented a malachite version of the iconic Lady 8 Petite model with a green bead at the top of the figure-8. Van Cleef & Arpels has released a semi-precious version of the Alhambra bracelet watch.
In addition to true women's jewelry watches in malachite vestments, there were automatic models Gucci G-Timeless Automatic with gilded front sight on a green background and sports Omega Seamaster 300 with real diver water resistance up to 300 meters. The 41 mm case is made of yellow gold and the bezel is made of green ceramic. Malachite would be too fragile for this purpose.>
