The watch house Piaget has long formed and clearly defined its niche - classic ultra-thin watches. In 1957, the 9P mechanical movement was introduced with a manual winding thickness of only 2 mm, and three years later the manufacture released the automatic movement 12P with a thickness of 2.3 mm. Revolutionary calibers have helped Piaget create a 'new' elegance - with a clean and austere dial silhouette, slender hands and indexes. This style quickly fell in love with celebrities and representatives of the business elite: Alain Delon was among the fans of fine watches.
For 60 years, the watchmaker has maintained its reputation as a record holder in the field of ultra-thin calibers, including those with complications. Of the 45 new calibers created by Piaget watchmakers, 25 are slim, and more than half of them hold the title of “slimmest”. Among them, for example, the thinnest self-winding watch and the thinnest chronograph.

The anniversary year for the Altiplano line 2017 will open with two new limited edition models. Both are inspired by the aesthetics of the first slim watches: the signature dark blue sunburst dial reproduces the historic Piaget logo (located closer to the center compared to current models), vertical and horizontal lines and applied (unprinted) hour indices made of white gold.

The hand-wound caliber 430P is 2.1 mm thick, a direct heir to the first caliber of 1957, enclosed in a 38 mm case, and produced in 460 pieces. The self-winding 1200P movement is 2.35 mm thick, housed in a 43 mm white gold case, and the dial bears the retro inscription Automatic. The anniversary series of automatic watches will have 360 pieces.>
