The auction house Phillips, together with Bacs & Russo, held a watch auction in Hong Kong, at which 380 of the rarest examples of watch art were exhibited. The absolute leader of the sale was the chronograph with perpetual calendar and moon phase display Patek Philippe Ref. 2499 1968. The rarity, presumably a one-of-a-kind, sold for HK $ 19,720,000 ($ 2,537,964), the record amount ever given for a watch at an auction in Asia.

The auction achievements of the Swiss family manufactory Patek Philippe do not end there. The second place in cost was taken by the world-timer Ref. 2523/1 1954. At HK $ 19,496,000 (US $ 2,509,135), the new owner bought the most expensive Patek Philippe world time watch.
In total, almost $ 20 million was raised during the auction.>
