$ 5,060,427 is now the price of the most expensive Rolex watch ever put up for auction. This is the unique Ref. 6062 Bao Dai with calendar and moon phases, belonging to the last emperor of Vietnam. In addition to outstanding provenance, the watch has a rare "appearance" for this reference: a black dial with several diamond indexes is enclosed in a yellow gold case. One of them shines at the 12 o'clock position, instead of the famous "Rolex" crown, which had to be shifted lower. The last time this watch appeared at auction in 2002 and went for a record 370 thousand Swiss francs. 15 years later, their price has risen 21 times.

The next day, Sotheby’s exhibited a sophisticated Patek Philippe Caliber 89 pocket watch. They were released in 1989 for the watchmaker's 150th anniversary, and at the time were the most complex mechanical watches from Patek Philippe, with 33 complications and weighing over a kilogram. Each of the four manufactured pieces (in white, yellow, rose gold and platinum cases) was intended for a specific customer. It is not known how much the watch cost the first owners, but in 2009 one of the "Caliber 89" at the Antiquorum auction was sold for more than $ 5 million. Eight years later, the estimate of hours was neatly determined in the range of $ 6.4 million- $ 9.9 million. However, during the current auction, the lower limit was never reached, and the lot was removed from the auction.
