“What finally made me agree to work with Louis Vuitton was the challenge of coming up with an exceptional suitcase, because like most people, I travel a lot,” said Australian designer Mark Newson. “This is a unique chance for me to do this as a buyer rather than a designer.” Preferring high-tech materials, Newson proposed a multi-layer mesh made of composite polypropylene as the basis for the body of the suitcase - it is lightweight and is able to absorb vibration.

Even the classic home material Monogram has undergone some changes, losing almost half of its weight, but without sacrificing quality. With the same goal - to make the suitcase as light as possible - Newson and Louis Vuitton have developed a single aluminum zipper with a digital combination lock. And the patented external telescopic aluminum handle mechanism has increased the capacity of the suitcase by 15%. Like the classic Louis Vuitton chests, the new product has cowhide corners and handles, and the lid folds 180 degrees for added convenience.
The suitcase comes complete with a cover, removable interior straps for securing luggage and a dividing net. Additionally, you can purchase a soft computer case, a bag attached to the handle, a cosmetic bag, two shoe covers and a wardrobe trunk. At the request of the owner, the luggage can be personalized with your own initials, embossed on the luggage tag or cosmetic bag.

The suitcases will go on sale July 15: in three sizes (50 cm and 55 cm high for carry-on luggage, and 70 cm), seven colors and six different materials, including Monogram, Monogram Eclipse, Damier Graphite, Taiga, cowhide and Epi leather …
This is not the first collaboration between a Parisian house and an Australian designer. In 2014, Newson was among six innovative designers who were invited by the brand to create a bag with classic Monogram motifs to celebrate its 160th anniversary.
