As part of the Russian stage of the competition - Lexus Design Award Russia Top Choice - a large-scale educational program is being held, during which lectures and master classes from the best designers are held. The winner of the Russian stage receives a prize - a trip to Milan to the awards ceremony of the international LDA competition. The competition runs throughout the year and the winners are awarded as part of Milan Design Week. The finalists' works are exhibited in the Lexus space.

The 7th competition was held under the motto "Design for a Better Future". Young talents presented their ideas, considering not only the three core principles of Lexus - "Anticipate", "Innovate" and "Intrigue", but also the needs of the society of the future. The Russian stage of the Lexus Design Award Russia Top Choice collected a record number of works among all participating countries: 485 applications, 47 of which were included in the top 90 of the international shortlist. The winner was the uniO project - a safe magnetic socket created by Nikolai Lozinsky, a designer from St. Petersburg.

In Milan, Russia was represented by Dmitry Balashov, a specialist in industrial design. He entered the six finalists, selected from 1548 applicants from 65 countries. The designer presented the work "Ekovortex for energy generation" - a turbine that allows you to accumulate energy produced by the jet engine of an aircraft during takeoff and redistribute it to the work of different divisions of the airports.

The winner of the Lexus Design Award was American Lisa Marks, who made a bra for women who underwent mastectomy. Using algorithmic patterns, she created a three-dimensional lace that replaces rigid bra parts that cause discomfort after surgery.

The finalists presented other unusual projects as well. "Arenophile" Rezzana Hasoglu from Turkey allows you to create unusual things using various binders based on desert sand. The Baluto Modular Building System by Jeffrey Dela Cruz of the Philippines is helping to design housing that will withstand earthquakes and floods. The work of the Chinese Shuzhan Yuan "Hydrus" - equipment for emergency collection of oil spills. The Australian company Prevalent brought Solgami to Milan, a window shade that generates electricity and improves indoor lighting.

The finalists were fully funded by the Lexus brand.
