Café Society is Woody Allen's 12th film screened at the Cannes Film Festival. And also the third work of the director, who had the honor to open the program of the prestigious show on the Cote d'Azur. In France, Woody Allen's films are always successful, especially if they are beautiful romantic stories with elements of melodrama. The action of the film "High Life" takes place in the 30s of the XX century. A young boy named Bobby (Jesse Eisenberg) comes from Brooklyn to Hollywood, where, at the agency of his uncle, an influential film producer (Steve Carell), he meets and immediately falls in love with the charming Vonnie (Kristen Stewart). The hero is drawn into the maelstrom of Hollywood social life, in which there is a place for brilliant parties, bohemian entertainment, dubious intrigues, luxurious dresses and diamonds.
The fashion house Chanel took an active part in the work on the film: especially for Kristen Stewart, the performer of the main role and the brand's ambassador, dresses made of silk and lace were sewn, makeup was developed, and jewelry sets were compiled.

However, they are worn throughout the film by other actresses, including Blake Lively. The costume designer is Susie Benzinger (this film is her seventh joint project with Woody Allen). “I could not help but turn to the legacy of Gabrielle Chanel, which has become an integral part of the history of the Café Society,” explains Benzinger. “This work was not difficult at all: elegant and simple-cut dresses perfectly complement modern Chanel brooches and earrings.”

Two years ago, the Café Society theme was already featured in Chanel's high jewelery collection of the same name - some pieces from it, such as the Symphony diamond earrings and the Broadway bracelet, now appear in scenes from the new Woody Allen film. Other jewels - Art Deco sautoirs, wide cuff bracelets, pearl brooches, hoops, earrings and rings in white gold and diamonds - are taken from other iconic Chanel Fine Jewelery collections: Cascade de Perles, Bouton de Camelia, Ruban Mademoiselle, Soleil, Franges Swing, Plume. “Without the involvement of Chanel, the Café Society movie would have been very different,” says Susie Benzinger. As, however, and high society - without its muse and patroness Gabrielle Chanel.>
