Most likely you recognized this colorful Indian as a formidable guide in the "Train to Darjeeling" or crew member Steve Zissou from the painting "Aquatic Life" by Wes Anderson. The favorite of American director Varis Ahluvalia also creates jewelry, starred in advertising campaigns, inspires designers and stylists and remains a welcome guest of fashion shows.
Devotion to things

The more photos of the actor you look at, the more often you will notice repetitions. By his example, Ahluwalia confirms that you don't have to buy a lot of things to put together a great wardrobe that fits literally any occasion. People who are not devoid of taste deftly juggle about the same set of objects and even manage to turn them into their trademark talismans. So, Varis Ahluvalia consistently wears the same suede boots, made in a complex pink shade, which are only good for wear and other timestamps. This list also includes white Birkenstock sandals, zebra-like sleepers, a silk scarf with a variegated pattern that he ties around his neck, and, of course, the main element of all his looks is a turban.
Suit and sandals

Obviously, not every suit is suitable for such a union: for example, double-breasted jackets made of textured tweed or thick wool will clearly be a bad choice, but summer models made of linen and cotton in beige, olive or blue with sandals will definitely rhyme. Speaking of this combination, one cannot but recall another fan of sandals and costumes - Gianluca Izaya. If you want to practice taking on vacation, be sure to explore the imagery of the Italian.
Ability to wear costumes at ease

The actor wears costumes in everyday life and at events, so in a series of looks they look as casual on him as T-shirts with jeans or chinos with jumpers. Ahluvalia is a big fan of custom tailoring, for which he thanks the costume designer Milena Canonero. “During the filming of Aquatic Life, she invited me to sew a costume for the master who created the wardrobe for The Godfather. Of course I agreed! It was an incredible experience and I never went back to the department with ready-made suits. If you are dressed like a gentleman, you behave accordingly,”wrote Ahluvalia in a column for The Guardian.

The actor's appearance is so colorful and bright in itself that he prefers to dress in soothing colors. His suits are predominantly gray and navy blue. The looks have a lot of olive, beige, bottle shades. One of Ahluvalia's favorite combinations is light blue or blue in the company of browns of varying degrees of saturation. A great set for Moscow summer and the coming autumn - Barbour jacket, light blue shirt, olive chinos and suede boots in a light shade.
Roll-up sleeve shirts

Sleeves and trousers rolled up correctly is a science that will take some time to master. The cuffs should not be too large, however, and they should not be turned into very tight and narrow strips either. Varis Ahluvalia copes well with this task and becomes an example of ideal negligence, which is sometimes lacking.

Ahluvalia draws his fashion ideas mainly from films. Among his favorite characters he names Phileas Fogg from the 1956 film adaptation of Around the World in 80 Days, played by David Niven, Atticus Finch's lawyer played by Gregory Peck from To Kill a Mockingbird (1962), and David, the character of Chris Kristofferson from Alice is Here No Longer Lives”Scorsese (1974). Ahluvalia says about the latter that this is one of the most successful examples of "jeans classics". And the actor himself knows how to wear this seemingly ordinary wardrobe item in such a way that it looks unusual. The Hindu always chooses relaxed silhouettes, straight cut, and places small accents. In denim total look, she uses a shirt with buttons in a terracotta shade, or throws on top a beige raincoat made of an unusual and textured material.
The actor himself inspires many fashion figures. He starred in the lookbook of The Kooples, with whom he made a joint collection in 2017, modeled for Opening Ceremony and became the hero of The Little Black Jacket: Chanel's Classic Revisited album in 2012, for which he posed for Karl Lagerfeld.
