The helmet and mask of Darth Vader, worn by actor David Prause on the set of The Empire Strikes Back in 1980, is a cherished dream for many fans of the cult franchise.

The second film (in the chronology of George Lucas - the fifth episode) is considered the best of the entire series, which took decades to create. "Empire" captures the birth of love, loss, the theme of fathers and children, overcoming personal nightmares and therefore is appreciated by fans as the most colorful work of the franchise.

It is not the first time that rare props from the filming of Star Wars have been put up for auction; in May, the entire Vader costume was put up for sale. 13 items, including boots, raincoat, mask and helmet, created in 1979 by designers under the direction of John Mollo for the fifth film, were valued at $ 2.7 million. Now sellers of one headdress on iCollector expect to receive $ 250-450 thousand for it.

The mask and helmet are made of fiberglass and painted in dark gray metallic with shades of black. The cinematic artifact is in excellent condition, although some details are missing. For example, the aluminum pressure sensors, which were originally located on the sides of the vent, have not survived. The fittings securing the mask to the helmet have been replaced with a new one, to be specified on the auction website. The auction will take place on September 26.>
