Store only clean items
Rule number one: before you send things on a seasonal "vacation", be sure to put them in order. Wash or dry-clean your clothes, wipe your shoes thoroughly with a damp cotton cloth and dry them, shake out stale candy wrappers and old receipts from the bags. Firstly, bacteria can grow in the folds of stale things, which will cause an unpleasant musty smell. Secondly, it will be much more difficult to get rid of old stains after a few months.

Organize things and space correctly
Sorting your wardrobe by seasons is a good habit: this way you will have only the necessary things in front of your eyes and you will not have to spend extra time looking for a sweater among a heap of T-shirts. However, you should not completely get rid of summer clothes, some of them will come in handy in the cold season. For example, the same T-shirts can be worn underneath wool jumpers for added warmth and comfort, while dresses in lightweight fabrics can be paired with cozy cardigans.
Before the audit, analyze which things make sense to leave, and which ones can be safely removed to the back shelf of the cabinet. The latter may include, for example, swimwear, beach clothes and accessories, summer hats, trousers made of fabrics such as silk or chiffon, light trench coats and raincoats.
Choose the right place
Ideally, a dark, dry and well-ventilated space, such as a separate cabinet with shelves and rail. Remember that different things must be stored in their own way so that they do not deform and do not lose their appearance. For example, jackets are best hung on properly sized hangers, but shirts, trousers, jeans, and dresses can be neatly folded and placed on shelves.
Pay attention to the material from which the thing is made: it is better not to store clothes made of leather and dense textured fabrics folded, otherwise creases may remain on it, and the knitwear, on the contrary, stretches out on a hanger. Never store clothes and accessories in direct sunlight, for example on a balcony, as this may cause them to fade and fade. As a last resort, hide them in tight, impenetrable trunks. But it is impossible to keep clothes in plastic bags from dry cleaning: they retain moisture, as a result of which yellow marks may appear on things.

Take care of shoes and accessories separately
In addition to the fact that shoes and accessories need to be cleaned and put in order, they also need to be properly prepared for storage. To prevent them from warping, stuff bags, shoes, sandals and hats with dry tissue paper or newspapers - not too tight, but so that they hold their shape. It is better to hide bags and shoes in special fabric covers - if there are no “relatives”, you can sew them or buy an analogue.
Do not try to fit all things on one small shelf - they should be located freely, without crushing each other. Bags can be folded into a plastic or cardboard container and put down the cabinet under the rail with clothes, and for shoes you can buy special "portioned" boxes (each for one, maximum two pairs) or boxes.
Don't neglect modern devices
Vacuum storage bags are an ingenious thing that comes in handy when you need to fit a large amount of items into a small storage space. Of course, it is better not to use them for bags, jackets and outerwear, but for unassuming T-shirts, T-shirts, light dresses and skirts - just right. Before packing, think again what things may still be useful to you in the autumn-winter period: it is worth postponing with their vacuumization.

Make the most of your space
Using storage space wisely can save tons of space. Judge for yourself: why lay out summer hats in a row, if they can be folded one into another. Small bags and clutches can be hidden in large ones (remember the previous point and make sure that the bags do not deform), and use the suitcase to store things packed in vacuum bags. It is better to put shoes without boxes in pairs with "knave" - toe to heel - this way you will save space for at least one pair. Jeans and cotton clothes can be rolled up and placed on the same shelf on top of each other.
