"Now you can applaud", - with these words one of the speakers of the Samsung presentation held yesterday, August 9, in New York, finished the demonstration of the smart voice assistant Bixby, Samsung's own development, which became the answer to smart speakers from Google, Amazon, Apple and Microsoft.

What's special about Bixby is that it focuses on personalizing searches. For example, if you are looking for a restaurant in the area, the assistant will automatically fill in the information it knows about you in the table reservation window. And the restaurant will find one that suits your tastes. A separate area of application of Bixby is analytics of the smartphone “seen” by the camera. Here the range of possibilities is great: from simple translation of inscriptions in a foreign language to offers to buy things that are in the frame.

In terms of navigation, Samsung decided not to reinvent the wheel and left integration with the Google Maps service.

"Packed" is the new Samsung assistant in the Galaxy Home - a smart voice speaker with an unusual design, somewhat reminiscent of alien ships from "War of the Worlds" by H.G. Wells. The column is equipped with six speakers and a subwoofer, as well as eight microphones. The system should track your presence in the room and send sound exactly there.

During the presentation, the speakers demonstrated an almost “seamless” sound: for example, you first listen to the same song in the car from the phone, then go to the living room, and the track “jumps” to the TV, and then to the kitchen, where the disco continues, but is already playing Galaxy Home. This is not the first such development, but within the framework of the winning concepts of the "Internet of Things" and "smart home", it becomes part of the mandatory set of modern technology.

Another important novelty is the Galaxy Watch. In general, this kind of devices has a difficult fate: despite the comfortable shape and constant presence in the owner's life (with a smart watch, you can already wash, swim and need to sleep - to monitor the quality of sleep), the gadget is unlikely to become a mass product. Usually the watch lacks autonomy, it is too dependent on the smartphone and serves as its continuation. This is why Samsung developers have tried to make their watches more useful. For example, the Galaxy Watch can be charged wirelessly, work for about three days on one charge and can act as a standalone phone, although so far only in 15 countries. From the point of view of software, the watch has also "smartened up": measurements of many vital signs of the owner, a calorie calculator, automatic recognition of types of physical activity and much more.

The main hit of the presentation is the ninth version of the strongest line of Samsung mobile devices, the Galaxy Note. The first model of the series was at first perceived with bewilderment - both the screen and the body of the device seemed so large then. However, the train of thought turned out to be correct: today, few people use screens with a diagonal of less than five inches. The Galaxy Note 9 has it hitting a record 6.4 inches, but the smartphone still doesn't look huge due to the emphasis on body length over width and sloping edges of the screen on the sides.

The distinctive feature of the entire Note series - the smart S Pen - continues to evolve. Now this “magic wand” serves as a remote control: by pressing buttons on the stylus, you can control the sound of videos, flip through presentation slides, launch any application or take pictures with the camera. And the pen is charged directly in the smartphone.

On sale will be presented two versions of the Galaxy Note 9, differing in the amount of both types of memory: 128 GB of storage and 6 GB of RAM - in the "younger" and as much as 512 GB and 8 GB of RAM - in the "older". If you add support for 512GB SD cards here, you get a total of 1TB of space. And this is more than many laptops.

To save the gadget from overheating, the engineers added liquid cooling to the processor, so the Note 9 was the first in its series to learn how to work as a PC replacement. It can be connected via an adapter to HDMI to any monitor, and the latter immediately activates the familiar desktop. A separate docking station, which was previously required for this, is no longer needed.

The Galaxy Note 9 has the same advanced camera as the Galaxy S9. The main feature is the aperture, which changes the aperture value depending on the lighting. During the day, f / 2.4 is enough, at night it works f / 1.5 to catch more light on its matrix, giving better quality images at dusk.

The battery, usually the weakest point of all smartphones, in the Galaxy Note has been increased in terms of capacity up to 4000 mAh, in tests the device showed a whole day of continuous operation. And this is quite enough to be afraid by the evening to be left without a connection or a called taxi.>
