Health
When asked whether it is necessary to wear safety glasses in bright sun, most doctors and cosmetologists will answer in the affirmative. The former explain this by the fact that UV radiation damages the retina of the eyes and can provoke serious health problems - from blurred vision to burns. The latter are advised to wear glasses to avoid the premature appearance of facial wrinkles.
The main rule when choosing sunglasses: dark lenses are not always synonymous with efficiency and vice versa. Truly high-quality glasses, firstly, cannot be completely cheap (experts say that an adequate price on average starts from 2000 rubles) and, secondly, must have a mandatory mark or certificate with a percentage of protection against UVA- and UVB- radiation and the wavelength blocked by the glasses. The UV rays that reach our eyes are measured with a total wavelength of 290-380 nanometers, so glasses should ideally be labeled at least 400 nm to guarantee 100% protection.
If we talk about special brands, not the mass market, then the degree of lens shading is also an indicator of their "throughput". So, transparent and gradient lenses, which transmit 80-100% of the light, are suitable only for cloudy weather. Glasses with colored lenses and UV protection by 18-43% can be safely worn in the summer in the city in the middle lane, where the sun is not so active. But when going to the sea (especially when it comes to countries located close to the equator) or to the mountains, it is better to bring glasses with a minimum degree of sunlight transmission - these can usually be recognized by very dark or mirrored lenses. By the way, it is believed that the ideal lens color is gray, since it does not distort the perception of the surrounding space. But experts do not recommend models with a gradient for permanent wear:such glasses can lead to rapid eye fatigue.
Another important point is the material from which the lenses are made: glass or plastic. It is believed that glass lenses provide guaranteed protection against UV rays even in the case of budget options, but if we talk about really high-quality models, then by and large there is not much difference between glass and plastic. One of the obvious benefits of plastic lenses is that they are harder to break.
Model and shape
The first thing to consider when choosing glasses is that you should be comfortable in them, especially if you expect to wear them regularly. The temples should be ergonomically shaped and not press on the temple area - otherwise, you risk facing constant headaches. That said, too large frames are also a bad option: perfect glasses are a put-and-forget accessory that you don't have to fix every five minutes.
The next item is the shape of the glasses. You can safely forget the recommendations from the series "If you have hard facial features, contrasting models with round lenses will suit you for balance." All these strict categorizations almost never work.
The only truly sure way to find the perfect glasses shape for yourself is to re-measure all the options. There are no faces that are absolutely suitable for abstract standards: not only the shape is important, but also the features of the features, the ratio of the sizes of the eyes, nose and mouth, the presence or absence of high cheekbones and many other parameters.
If you have a round face, this does not mean that your choice should be limited exclusively to the cat eyes model. Perhaps you will look much better in classic "aviators". Here, perhaps, only one universal advice can be given - when choosing glasses, pay attention to their width: the edges of the lenses should go slightly beyond the natural boundaries of your face, otherwise you may get the impression that the glasses are too small for you.
Trends
We have already talked about one of the main trends of the current season - super slim glasses, which almost all fashion bloggers and celebrities managed to "walk". The trouble is that this model is not suitable for everyone, and its relevance is unlikely to last longer than a few months. If you're looking for something a little more versatile, look at glasses with elongated inverted triangles, such as those in the Gigi Hadid collection for Vogue Eyewear. Another best option is moderately wide oval glasses.
In general, it cannot be said that any models are completely ignored by designers: even the classic versions look unusual due to various modifications - it is worth, for example, adding an original detail in the form of a leather-covered bow to the standard "aviators". In the last few seasons, more attention has been paid to the color of lenses: the most relevant ones are blue and yellow, followed by pink and beige.
And finally: if for you sunglasses are not just a functional wardrobe item, but an accessory for creating an image, do not be afraid to replenish your collection with at least one super spectacular model - a futuristic shape, with arms in the form of tongues of flame or mirrored gradient lenses. Among Russian brands, the best in this business is Fakoshima.>
