HomePod postponed for 2018

If you're looking forward to the release of Apple's first smart speaker, the HomePod, be patient: the company has delayed its launch from December to “early 2018”. This applies primarily to the countries of the first wave - the USA, Great Britain and Australia. Apple did not name the exact reason for the transfer, saying only that it needed "a little more time" to bring the project to mind.

However, the news cannot be called unexpected: this is a completely new device for Apple, and, given the rather serious competition in the face of Amazon Echo and Google Home, the Californian company has no right to launch even a slightly unfinished product on the market.

Dog owners live longer

This is the conclusion reached by researchers from Sweden as a result of a large-scale study. Scientists have monitored the health of about 3 million people without heart disease for 12 years. After analyzing how many of those observed died during this period, as well as taking into account many factors, scientists calculated the risk of mortality. It turned out that those who have a dog at home have a 20% lower rate. Data among bachelor canines is especially indicative: their risk is immediately lower by 33% compared to those who live absolutely alone, and the likelihood of developing cardiovascular diseases such as heart attack and stroke is 8% lower.

The researchers could not name the exact reasons why everything is so. Most likely, "dog lovers" live longer because they have to regularly walk their pet - and this is physical activity, the lack of which leads to heart disease. And if in the battle between laziness and jogging, the first one can still win, then before a dog asking to go out for natural reasons, she will not resist.

It is worth taking into account the emotional factor - constant loneliness leads to depression. The most cynical version remains - people who decide to get a dog initially have fewer health problems.

Be that as it may, according to one of the authors of the study, Tove Fall, having a pet in the family can have a positive effect on a person's life: "For some people who feel lonely or have problems with physical fitness, it can be very beneficial."

Germany banned children's smart watches

The ban is approved at the state level - The Federal Network Agency has regarded these wearable devices as a surveillance tool. Many models of "smart" watches for children are actually equipped with microphones and allow parents to remotely listen to everything that is happening around the child. At the same time, it is impossible to find out from the outside that the microphone is on.

Officials are urging parents to destroy existing gadgets, and schools to closely monitor what students are wearing on their wrists.

Two new Tesla cars

Tesla has officially unveiled two new models of its electric cars - the second generation of the sports Roadster and the Semi truck.

Let's start with Semi: an electric truck can travel an impressive 800 km without recharging - more than from Moscow to St. Petersburg. Special stations called Megachargers have been developed to charge the car. They will be integrated into the existing Tesla filling stations and run on solar panels. It is reported that half an hour of charging the Megacharger is enough to cover 643 km.

The truck will not be fully self-driving, but it will be fitted with an Enhanced Autopilot system for partial self-driving.

As for the Tesla Roadster, it will be the fastest production car in the world - a real supercar. Its top speed is a crazy 402 km / h. The new Roadster can accelerate to 100 km / h in 1.9 seconds. But this is by no means the main thing - Musk announced that the roadster's batteries will last for a thousand kilometers ("From Los Angeles to San Francisco without refueling!"). None of the existing cars is capable of this, let alone electric cars.

You can pre-order a new Tesla car right now, leaving a deposit of $ 50 thousand. It will go on sale in 2020.

OnePlus 5T

The Chinese from OnePlus have released a new version of the "main smartphone for geeks" - it is called the OnePlus 5T. It is interesting, as usual, because it is a full-fledged (at least on paper) flagship - but for $ 499. Here is a "frameless" six-inch screen - it occupies more than 80% of the front surface of the display. Like the previous OnePlus 5, which came out just four months ago, the 5T is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor.

The smartphone has a dual camera, but its setup is different from what Apple came up with (and then copied by almost all Chinese manufacturers). Instead of a telephoto, the usual 20-megapixel module was chosen as the second module - but with an increased aperture (f / 1.7). The 5T will automatically switch to it in low light conditions, so we are promised great shots in the dark. It is not yet clear how this system will work and why it was impossible to select this particular module as the main one.

The resolution of the display is Full HD, the type of matrix is AMOLED and it was produced by Samsung. The device will go on sale on October 21.>
