The idea of creating the collection belongs to the winemaker Jean-Charles Boisset - a fan of good wines and expensive crystal. The head of the Boisset Collection has been ranked among the 50 most influential people in the industry for almost a quarter of a century, and he also fanatically collects Baccarat crystals: all tasting rooms of his wineries are decorated with luxurious chandeliers of the French brand. Jean-Charles Boisset tastes wines, of course, exclusively from Baccarat glasses. He is sure that the irregular shape, diameter and depth of the wine glass can nullify the entire work of the winemaker: “Wine serves as the highest expression of feelings and art called life. And in order to truly enjoy it, the most exquisite vessels are required."

Working on champagne glasses (a set of two glasses costs 31,700 rubles), the winemaker decided to abandon the classic "flute" and created wider tulip-shaped glasses. “Expensive champagne is a complex, multifaceted wine that needs much more space to express itself and reveal itself,” comments Boisset, demonstrating glasses from the new collection. - It is not able to do this in a narrow glass with a minimum of free space, therefore only tulip-shaped glasses are suitable for it, which must be filled by 30–35%, no more. In such a "tulip" the aroma of champagne will be more concentrated, and the taste - richer than in the "flute"."

Another item, according to Boisset, is a special decanter (71,900 rubles) that is necessary in order to enjoy all the shades of taste and aroma of aged champagne.

“I created a unique spherical product with a narrow neck,” continues the head of the Boisset Collection. - The fact is that a bottle of brut contains about 1 million gas bubbles. About 20% volatilizes when the bottle is opened. The decanter will continue what it started and save the champagne from excessive carbonation, which hits the nose and prevents you from fully appreciating the aroma of the wine. Incidentally, this is the world's first champagne decanter produced by Baccarat. It took over 5 years to develop it, from design to implementation, and is the longest-running project in the company's history. Each such decanter is blown by hand, and therefore no two decanters are exactly alike."

There is, of course, a wine decanter. “This Baccarat clear crystal wine decanter is brilliant and sophisticated,” comments Boisset. - Just look at its oval shape, whose sharpened silhouette is worthy of fashion shows and is suitable for any festive feast. The decanting process allows you to get rid of the sediment from the wine, and when the wine is poured into the decanter, it is saturated with oxygen, the aromas become brighter and more open. The aesthetic part of serving wine on the table in such a vessel is also important. The new Passion narrow neck decanter is perfect for dense white wines with sediment and mature aged reds.

Another important part of the Passion collection are the universal glasses for white and red wine created by Boisset (a set of two glasses costs 31,700 rubles). They differ in a sufficiently wide bowl, which ensures the correct circulation of the drink in the horizontal plane when the glass is rotated. At the same time, the area of contact of the drink with air increases and the aroma is revealed to the maximum. Boisset wanted to create a vessel that was simple, modern and elegant at the same time. “I have combined the two best glass shapes in them - for Bordeaux and for Burgundy wines,” explains Jean-Charles, filling the glass with red wine. - Form is very important. You know that the tip of the tongue picks up sweet notes. The middle is a salty taste, a little further are the receptors responsible for the sour shades. And bitter is perceived by the root of the tongue. The shape of this glass allows you to feel all the versatility of the taste of the drink."

At the same time, according to the winemaker, it is extremely important that the glasses are made of crystal, and not of thin glass, as usual. After all, a thick-walled crystal glass allows you to keep the desired temperature of the drink much longer, and in terms of tactile sensations, such a glass is more pleasant and more comfortable to hold in your hands.

All Passion products have an element in their design that resembles a grape berry or a cut diamond. Jean-Charles is delighted with this interpretation, because grapes are the diamond of the business to which the winemaker devoted his life. “Our glasses are quite heavy - they weigh about 440 g, but this is crystal. And Baccarat crystal literally charges the wine with energy!"
