Collection of the day -

Heritage, Montblanc

Montblanc painstakingly builds a bridge between the past and the present, embodying the 160-year heritage of the legendary Minerva manufacture in its current collections. The wristwatches of the 1940s and 1950s became the pivot point for the creation of the new Heritage line. Slightly convex dials of different textures, dots-indexes, a stylized palette of silver, salmon, caramel shades, as well as a sfumato leather strap helped to convey the aesthetics of that time.

In addition to simple automatic three-hands, watches with GMT function, day and date indication, the collection includes a monopusher chronograph, a perpetual calendar (100 items) and a “doctor's” watch with a heart rate scale (100 items). All models passed 500 hours of testing and received The Montblanc Laboratory Test 500 certification.

Master Grande Tradition Gyrotourbillon Westminster Perpétuel, Jaeger-LeCoultre

This is one of the most sophisticated and beautiful watches presented at the Geneva Salon. The fifth multi-axis Jaeger-LeCoultre tourbillon is combined with the functions of a perpetual calendar and minute repeater - while the most complicated piece has quite reasonable case dimensions - 43 mm in diameter and 14.08 mm thick. The sounding functionality is represented by four modules of gongs and hammers, which beat not only hours and minutes, but also perform the full Westminster carillon (instead of quarters of an hour).

A crystal chime of four notes in a different sequence is played by the bells of London's Big Ben every 15 minutes - in Master Grande Tradition, this melody sounds at the beginning of the hour, so that there is no gap between the beeps of the hours and minutes. The masterpiece of fine watchmaking worth 800 thousand euros has been released in an amount of 18 pieces.

Trend of the day -

Complete transparency

A watch in a sapphire crystal case is not new for a long time. However, it was at SIHH 2019 that several brands demonstrated their mechanisms in all their glory. “Absolute transparency does not allow for the slightest mistake and requires the highest craftsmanship in the finishing of parts, which is in line with the philosophy of our manufacture,” says Claude Graysler, co-founder of Armin Storm. His opinion is shared by Pascal Raffy of Bovet and the designers of Speake-Marin, who placed the first minute repeater caliber in a sapphire case. The head of H. Moser & Cie Edouard Meilan chose a Venturer sapphire case for the tourbillon caliber, but covered it with a pavé of 264 blue and blue sapphires with a degradation effect.

Table clock Medusa, MB&F

The tenth joint project between MB&F and L'Epée 1839 resulted in a jellyfish watch. The transparent dome is made of Murano glass, and the double configuration allows not only using the clock as a table clock, but also hanging it from the ceiling (the weight of the structure is approximately 6 kg).

It took more than two years to develop a mechanism that combines winding and adjustment systems. The model is presented in three limited editions of 50 pieces in blue, pink and green.>
