What's more, Apple makes some pretty damn cool laptops, and the twelve-inch "just MacBook" was no exception. Look at it: inconceivably thin and light, eerily beautiful, with a wonderful screen and a full-size backlit keyboard. And now also in pink, already, one might say, not only a laptop - but also an accessory.
In my first review on the MacBook, I wrote that all its disadvantages stem from virtues: beauty is followed by impracticality. Thin - but with a "frail" processor and heats up, light - but with only one port, which is still not the most common USB-C format. Handsome, but … but he has no antipode of this quality.

Then the MacBook seemed to me an impressive expensive toy - but all that was needed in order not to fall in love with it, then certainly to be imbued with genuine sympathy - to take it with you on a business trip for a couple of days.
The main miracle, of course, did not happen, and one Type-C connector is still terribly inconvenient. To insert a flash drive, you need, as they sometimes say, "dance with a tambourine" - connect the adapter. It seems nothing like that - but the thing is that you never know when you will need it, and I left it in the room exactly on the day that "when" came. And the rest of the time I carried it in my pocket unnecessarily. Villainy rule.

But another law of meanness allowed me to look at the MacBook in a different way. It so happened that about a week before the business trip, my backpack disappeared without a trace - I will not tell what was in it, otherwise the text will take on too dramatic a shade. I didn't have time to buy a new one (and to be honest, I just forgot), so I had to go on a trip with what was at hand from what seemed to me the most "shameful". With a nice little cardboard bag.
I didn’t part with this package for the entire total round-trip flight time, from leaving home to waiting for the plane. It was there that the MacBook was located - I calmly tucked it into the compartment with things, and did not feel any additional weight at all. If I had put a much more functional MacBook Pro there, I would have risked tearing the cardboard and, if Johnny Ive hadn't, smash it. Why not Air? Have you seen his screen? Faded colors, low resolution - and yet it was once amazing. It's still a good laptop, but its days are gone. At least until Apple updates it.
The rest of the time, when I was not working, I carried the MacBook in my hands. It was not difficult - it weighs almost nothing, and you can forget about it with a bag on your shoulder. In general, far from the PC, the portability of the new MacBook is especially pleasing.
Contributing to this joy is a very decent battery life. The MacBook has a long life, its battery charge was always enough for me for a day. And since my smartphone is also equipped with a Type-C connector, I could charge both devices with the same cord.

But most importantly, I could work with the MacBook. I understand perfectly well that the range of my work tasks is not too wide: a browser, skype and a text editor, and all this Apple laptop copes with easily. Had I set a series of more serious tasks to the MacBook, run a dozen "heavy" programs in parallel, and my feelings might have been different. But specifically for me, a journalist who writes to the site and a person who is used to storing all his files in the "cloud", it is terribly convenient to use a 12-inch MacBook. And I'm sure many other professions would say the same.
It's hard for me to imagine a more convenient tool for remote work. Although no, I know that the next MacBook should definitely have a radio module for a SIM card. Then the concept of the device will be perfected: an amazingly portable laptop that can go online anytime, almost anywhere. No more Starbucks ! And even a single port is not a hindrance. In the meantime, in the old fashioned way, you will have to distribute the Internet from your smartphone.
By the way, I also typed this text on a MacBook, however, already being in Moscow. Just because I'm used to it - and that says a lot.

Those who have thought about buying a MacBook now have a good reason to pay attention to it. Apple has presented an updated model: it is more powerful, one hour longer battery life (eleven hours instead of ten) and is available in the color "rose gold". Yes, now the "pink MacBook" exists officially - Apple detractors can begin to exercise their wit. In many ways, by the way, in vain: such a MacBook looks great and does not go at all. It is more golden than pink, and you don't feel like a peacock with it.
The MacBook is not a perfect laptop, not a must buy, not a revolution or a new word in technology. But after staying in his company for at least a couple of days, it is very difficult not to fall in love with him. And if you didn't have love at first sight that year, now is the time to give your MacBook a second chance.>
