Almost all leaks agree on one thing - this year Apple will present three iPhone models for the first time: the 7S and 7S Plus, which are not so conceptually different from the current models, as well as the iPhone 8 or iPhone X, which will receive a completely new design. It is this device that is of greatest interest.
According to rumors, Apple is testing at least ten prototypes of the G8, so that all the information we know may change before the announcement. However, you can almost certainly say that the new iPhone will be significantly different from anything Apple has done before.
It is expected that the display of the new iPhone will be frameless and will occupy almost the entire front side of the device. Samsung did the same trick this year with its Galaxy S8, and there is reason to believe Apple will go even further.
The Home button, which debuted in the first Apple smartphone, should disappear from the front panel. It should be built directly into the display - fortunately, the iPhone screen has been able to recognize pressure since the 6S. But with the fingerprint scanner, everything is not so simple: according to rumors, Apple is trying with all its might to implement it under the glass of the screen. This technology already exists, however, according to insiders, the company has encountered difficulties with its implementation in practice. This has led to the fact that on some renders and drawings of iPhone prototypes the scanner is located on the back of the device, under the branded "apple", which makes the smartphone related to its Android brothers.
The good news for all Apple fans is that according to recent leaks, the company's engineers have managed to deal with the issues that have arisen. So, most likely, the sensor will remain in the same place - it will simply be invisible. If so, then the iPhone 8 will be the world's first smartphone with this technology.
From other rumors: aluminum will go to the dustbin of history - according to Bloomberg, the body of the new flagship will be glass, with a steel frame. The device itself will more likely resemble the first iPhone. There are indirect reasons to believe this information: this year the Apple smartphone turns ten years old, so it would be logical in a sense to return to the roots.
What is inside
The fact that the iPhone 8 is guaranteed to receive a new processor is hardly surprising. Much more interesting are rumors that for the first time in the history of its smartphones, Apple will abandon IPS matrices in favor of OLED. The displays are rumored to be supplied by Samsung.
This means that the screen of the iPhone 8 will be more contrasting than in the current "sevens", and can also be curved like the Galaxy S7 Edge and Galaxy S8.
The diagonal of the display should be 5.8 inches, but due to the lack of frames, the smartphone will only be slightly larger than the regular iPhone 7 and significantly smaller than the Plus version.
The glass case will allow Apple to introduce wireless charging into the iPhone - its presence is indirectly confirmed by the leaked drawings of the flagships.
In addition, the Wall Street Journal reports that Apple will ditch the Lightning connector and will be replaced by USB-C, which has become the main port in the new MacBooks. However, other analysts believe that Apple's proprietary connector is not going anywhere - except that fast charging will become possible.
The KGI Securities also believe that Apple will add to the new iPhone face recognition feature - it can be used to unlock the smartphone.
Among other pleasant bonuses - improved moisture protection and (I would like to believe it) EarPods are included.
Price and availability
According to all the same FastCompany, the new iPhone will become the most expensive in the company's history. Its price will be about $ 1000. This is due primarily to components that are difficult to manufacture inside the device. Now the most expensive Apple smartphone - the 256GB iPhone 7 Plus - is sold in the US for $ 969.
These are not all unpleasant rumors for today: there is a possibility that the release of the G8 on sale will be postponed until early next year, since the pace of production of the components Apple needs is too low. Whether this is true or not, we will find out already in September - during the traditional announcement of the new iPhones.>
