Love the iPhone design but not iOS ? Then you should pay attention to the latest work of the well-known in narrow circles developer Nick Lee. He created a case that allows Android Marshmallow to run on Apple smartphones.

This case is essentially a separate tiny computer - it is he who is responsible for all Android computing. And since Android is an operating system open to developers, Lee rewrote the system code to work on this board. Initially, the entire structure was rather bulky, but over time Nick managed to place all the parts in a 3D-printed case, comparable in size to a case with an additional battery. The developer even equipped it with HDMI and USB ports, as well as an SD card slot.

The case is connected to the iPhone using a regular Lightning connector. Download Android and display the image on the iPhone screen is helped by a special Tendigi application, developed in the studio of the same Lee. Of course, the American invention cannot be called practical - however, his hard work and passion for technology cause genuine respect.

Moreover, this is not Lee's first high-profile project. Earlier this year, he was able to run full Windows 95 on Apple Watch smartwatches.

Most noteworthy: Nick noted in his post that the technical specifications of Apple's smartwatches far exceed those required by Microsoft's operating system. But once not every computer could cope with it. Here is a demonstration of how much technology has jumped ahead in such a relatively short period of time.

Also, Windows 95 and its successor Windows 98 ran on the iPhone, but compared to the port on the Apple Watch, these triumphs fade somewhat.

In April of this year, the Kazakhs managed to please the gaming community: the developer Alibek Omarov, together with his colleagues from SDLash3D, ported the cult Counter-Strike 1.6 to Android. Moreover, they adapted it for touch control! Anyone can now play it on their smartphone - the creators of the port posted detailed installation instructions on the Internet.

The power of geeks

When the ability to work with the head and hands, the love of video games, films and comics, as well as knowledge of physics and chemistry are combined in one person, this mixture often leads to the birth of the most unexpected devices.

Take a lightsaber - who hasn't dreamed of it? Plastic copies with transparent tubes and a light bulb instead of a striking beam of light inside do not count.

The authors of the YouTube channel Sufficently Advanced have created a prototype of the famous weapon from Star Wars, which not only looks almost like the real thing (more precisely, like what we are shown in the films), but can even burn a hole in the wall. Or rather, burn the whole house to the ground, because in fact it is a flamethrower with a narrowly directed stream of flame.

If you don't like Star Wars and want to burn something, you can make Iron Man's glove, following the example of the authors of the LaserGadgets channel. The name was chosen for a reason - a pair of real lasers is really built into the glove.

Let's go back to the Sufficently Advanced channel: it shows at least two more interesting inventions. The first is Mjolnir, Thor's Hammer, the weapon of a comic and movie character, a member of the Avengers superhero team.

According to the canon, no one can lift this hammer, except for its owner, no matter how strong a person may have. In reality, the geeks from Sufficently Advanced implemented this concept very gracefully: they placed a powerful electromagnet inside the replica of the hammer from the movie, and placed a fingerprint scanner on the handle. The magnet works until a certain person puts his finger on the scanner. So if you place a weapon on a metal surface (for example, on an iron manhole cover), only the one whose imprint is "hammered" in Mjolnir's memory can take it off the ground.

The second miracle from this channel is a helmet that allows you to control another person. The development is based on the so-called galvanic vestibular stimulation.

The whole system consists of a special helmet, something similar to the one worn by Professor Xavier from X-Men, and a radio remote control. Electrodes are built into the helmet, which, in accordance with commands from the remote control, stimulate the human vestibular apparatus (this is not dangerous for health). The stimulation is designed in such a way that a person in a helmet begins to feel that he is losing balance and is about to fall if he does not take a step in a certain direction. This is how the “control of consciousness” works: a person with a remote control deflects the stick to the right - the “experimental” begins to fall in that direction and automatically turns, and so on. The principle of operation of this interesting device can be seen in the video.

Recently our compatriot also distinguished himself: a resident of Saratov, Valentin Demchenko, based on an ordinary and visually boring quadrocopter, assembled a drone model from the great game Half-Life 2. The similarities are striking.

And one American, a sculptor named Jason Hight, created a lamp in the image and likeness of a cacodemon from the cult series of DOOM shooters.
