Most modern smartphones are boring. If the flagships this year had a kind of renaissance - the frameless Samsung Galaxy S8 and LG G6 set a new standard for mobile design - then the "state employees", much more popular devices among the people, are not so rosy.
On the one hand, the progress in this niche is fantastic: inexpensive smartphones become more powerful almost every six months, acquire metal cases and high-quality screens, and their cameras are capable of taking pictures that were unthinkable in quality for devices of such a low cost five years ago. But from this follows their main drawback - developing mainly "inward", almost all of them are similar to each other. An uninformed person is unlikely to distinguish by eye any new Meizu M Note from Xiaomi Redmi Note, although technologically they may be completely different. Therefore, a person who buys an inexpensive smartphone is more likely to acquire a multimedia combine, a workhorse that honestly fulfills its money.
So the Alcatel A5 LED has received a portion of attention, atypical for budget smartphones, since the announcement. This is one of the most unusual devices on the market. Still - show me another smartphone that can literally play with all the colors of the rainbow.
However, you can't tell from the first impression: apart from all the "color music", the A5 LED does not stand out from the crowd of its kind: it is an ordinary square "state employee", visually unremarkable. Moreover, it is also plastic - the concept with replaceable back covers affects. But it is this very concept that makes Alcatel one of the most unusual smartphones on the market. Light bulbs are built into the thin plastic cover, which can change their color. There are several interesting features of the A5 LED tied to this. Firstly, the light bulbs can blink to the beat of the music playing: this "feature" is in some wireless speakers (for example, in the Jabra Pulse), but in the world of modern smartphones it is not used at all. It's a pity that there is only one speaker here - not bad, but not particularly loud.
Secondly, the cover is able to adapt to the color of the smartphone's desktop: if, for example, your wallpaper has a picturesque sunset over the forest, the back of the phone turns orange, and so on. Moreover, the color design of the interface can also change. In a special application, you can catch in the frame an object whose color you like (for example, a flower bed with pansies), the program will recognize it and change the theme accordingly. The lid will "adjust" to the same color.
Thirdly, all in the same branded application there are several entertainment functions: "Who is louder" will offer to compete with friends in the power of the vocal chords, accompanying your screams with a "decibel scale" on the LED panel. In "Tsvetomuzyk" you can create simple musical compositions by knocking on squares, each of which has its own instrument. Naturally, the cover will play along with you. Unfortunately, it is rather difficult to create something meaningful from such tools. Well, the last function - "Light show" - will allow you to select the character of the backlight blinking. Just like that, for beauty.
It should be understood that the rear panel does not have an important practical purpose: yes, here you can set everything up so that the LEDs light up in a certain color when you receive a notification from an application (for example, if you have written to you in Facebook Messenger, a blue letter “F "), But in general it is more like" cosmetics ". It doesn't make your life much easier, but it literally brings the device to life. After all, the rest of the A5 LED is a simple budget smartphone, and besides, it is not the most technically advanced one.
The resolution of the 5.2-inch screen is HD, which is not much with such a screen diagonal. The display is not bad, quite bright and contrasting, but there is noticeable grain in the picture. However, this catches the eye only in direct comparison with more expensive models. But you can see not the most effective oleophobic coating with the naked eye: the screen quickly becomes covered with fingerprints and greasy stains.
Inside the A5 LED is a MediaTek MT6753 octa -core processor, and all you need to know about it is that the proverbial eight cores don't mean high performance. This is not a smartphone for gaming: the response time of the touch screen and the responsiveness of the interface are not at the highest level here. On the other hand, the device does not slow down - it loads all applications and pages in the browser properly and without problems. And you practically don't feel the lack of RAM (there are only two gigabytes of it).
But you feel the lack of a sane camera: if you dream of thousands of followers on Instagram, it is better to pay attention to another smartphone. On the other hand, the claim is only partially true, because “state employees” with a good camera simply do not exist.
With the battery life, everything is more or less expected: under moderate load, the A5 LED survives until the end of the day, but do not ask for more from it.
Let's be honest: if you are looking for a smartphone that will work out every ruble spent on it, this is not the place for you. For 11,990 rubles, which is how much the A5 LED now costs in Russia, you can buy a much smarter "Chinese".
A5 LED is a device for those who want something unusual, not like everyone else, and are not ready to spend money on an expensive Korean flagship. And the new Alcatel smartphone copes with this task perfectly.
It can be a good gift for a child who does not need an expensive model, but needs something that will make him feel a little different from everyone else. However, many adults are also not averse to experiencing this feeling. No matter how they prove the opposite.>
