The iconic Brazilian brand Havaianas was created in 1962 and for more than half a century has taught the world that “Hawaiian slippers” (which is how the word “Havaianas” is translated) are appropriate not only on the Copacabana beaches. For several years in a row, the brand has been inviting the best designers to create their own versions of rubber slippers in order to then put them up for a charity auction. This year, the British Mary Katranzu came up with a high "platform" of layers of colored Swarovski crystals, Charlotte Olympia put rubber slippers on a gold "pedestal", and Manolo Blahnik adorned snow-white slippers with scarlet roses and coral branches.
